PROPERTY RENOVATION - YORK ROAD

Project Overview

Mackay Carpentry delivered a full internal renovation of a two-flat Georgian property on York Road, Montpelier, blending period restoration with modern finishes. Each unit was designed with a distinct approach — one retaining traditional features and character, the other finished with clean, contemporary styling.

This was a turnkey project, with our team managing all aspects from first fix to final decoration, including coordination of all trades and ongoing design input. The result is two high-quality living spaces that reflect both the building’s heritage and the client’s modern vision.

Key Deliverables

Full Kitchen & Bathroom Installations

We supplied and installed new kitchens and bathrooms in both flats, with layouts optimised for functionality and visual flow. Finishes were tailored to suit the character of each unit — from traditional detailing to sleek, modern fittings.

Electrical Rewire & Plumbing Upgrades

A full electrical rewire was carried out across both properties, alongside plumbing modifications to support new layouts and appliance positions. We ensured all work was compliant with current building regulations.

Soundproofing & Floor Systems

To improve comfort and privacy between the flats, acoustic insulation and soundproofing systems were installed between floors. New timber flooring was also laid throughout, along with tiling in wet areas.

Heritage Detailing & Period Retention

In one of the flats, original features were retained and restored, including mouldings, doors, and trims. Decorative work was carefully planned to honour the building’s character while updating it for modern use.

Modern Finishes & Styling

The second unit was finished with a more minimalist, modern aesthetic — featuring clean lines, contemporary joinery, and a muted material palette.
